Bluetiful Design, Kam Ching Wang
The Beginning:
As the founder and brand identity designer at Bluetiful Design, Kam is dedicated to delivering creative excellence, building strategy-driven brands, and creating remarkable experiences for her client’s audience. Kam received her BFA from Northern Illinois University in Visual Communication. After working at a design agency for more than a decade, Kam became a stay-at-home mom. When Kam’s friend was opening a private practice in the Fulton Market District and needed a graphic designer to create a logo and branding, it led to Kam’s first freelance job.
Since then, Kam started her own LLC. Bluetiful Design helps business owners who want to create lasting growth by crafting irresistible brand personalities that attract their ideal clients. What sets them apart is the fusion of strategy and design with a purpose. “Anyone can make things beautiful”. I also want our strategy to shine,” Wang says. It is rewarding to influence clients, so they stand out in the crowded marketplace.
The Challenge:
Through the Glen Ellyn Public Library, Kam was introduced to her Mentor Norma Huff when she needed help on how to start her own business. SCORE propelled her business forward by providing countless resources and one-on-one sessions with her mentor, resulting in winning two large clients in 2020. “As a new entrepreneur, having connected to SCORE and Norma Huff SCORE Master Mentor, who challenged me on accountability and helped me overcome client objections — I’ve gained confidence in myself and grown my business. Our relationship strengthens each time we talk,” Wang says.
The Process:
Through SCORE Workshops, Kam learns new topics and has met other small business owners on the same journey. Kam is a regular participant at the virtual Women’s Roundtable twice a month. One of the SCORE members led her to NaperLaunch. She was educated on how to create a Business Plan, develop her Lean Canva Business Model, and craft her Unique Value Proposition.
The Success:
Kam has increased her revenue over the past year and the client base has grown from just the optometry vertical to dentistry, interior design, fitness, restaurant, and the local public library. The next step for the company is to bring on another designer who shares the passion for helping entrepreneurs establish a brand identity that’s perfectly aligned with their business goals. Helping small businesses save both time and money with a long-lasting branding solution that grows with them is the mission of Bluetiful Design.
